Offshore Myanmar Contract Goes to McDermott

McDermott has won a FEED contract for the Shwe Phase 3 gas field development offshore Myanmar.

POSCO International Corp. has awarded McDermott International, Inc. a front-end engineering design (FEED) contract for the Shwe Phase 3 gas field development offshore Myanmar, McDermott reported Tuesday.

The scope of work under the contract includes FEED services for a new compression platform, a bridge link and modifications in existing platforms, McDermott notes in a written statement emailed to Rigzone. The Shwe field is located approximately 44 miles (70 kilometers) offshore Myanmar, the company added.

“This award is a testament to McDermott’s excellent FEED and EPCIC (engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning) project delivery capability on large central production platform facilities,” Ian Prescott, McDermott’s senior vice president for Asia Pacific, stated. “We look forward to continuing to work with POSCO International Corp. to meet Myanmar’s growing energy demands.”

McDermott stated that its Center of Engineering Excellence in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia will undertake the work beginning this quarter. The company added that the work should conclude during the second quarter of 2020.

The contract value ranges from US$1 million to US$50 million, McDermott added.
