Thailand road projects opening for tender – links between Laem Chabang and Bangkok, Rama III Expressway and the Dao Khanong Western Outer Ring Road

Major expressway projects are being planned in Thailand at present. The tender process will open for expressway works to improve the links between Laem Chabang and Khlong Toeii in Bangkok. The US$274 million project will boost transport to and from the Bangkok Port area at Khlong Toeii, forming part of the planned Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). The construction work is expected to take until 2023 to complete and will reduce traffic congestion in the area. The first phase of the project will be to build a 2km elevated section from the port itself that will span the Phra Khanong canal and link to the At Narong-Bang Na expressway. The second phase will be to extend the Bang Na-Chon Buri-Burapha Withi expressway

Meanwhile funding worth $91.4 million is planned to be released by the Thailand Future Fund (TFF) for a road connection between the Rama III Expressway and the Dao Khanong Western Outer Ring Road. This funding package will become available in April 2020 and will be the first of several. Building the road link will take an estimated 39 months and is the subject of five separate contracts, for the construction work as well as installing the necessary traffic safety systems.
