Spain’s Barceló Hotel Group opens first resort in Thailand, 500 metres off the east coast of Phuket

Barceló Hotel Group has expanded its international presence in Asia with the opening of Barceló Coconut Island hotel. The recently refurbished five-star resort is on Coconut Island, known as Koh Maprao, 500 metres off the east coast of Phuket.

Situated in an exclusive beachfront location overlooking Phang Nga Bay, Barceló Coconut Island has a total of 274 rooms, including 120 two- to five-bedroom villas.

Barceló Hotel Group, the hotel division of the Barceló Group, is the second largest hotel chain in Spain and is among the top 30 largest in the world in number of rooms.

The group currently has more than 290 four- and five-star urban and holiday hotels, totalling more than 64,000 rooms across 30 countries and marketed under four brands: Royal Hideaway Luxury Hotels & Resorts, Barceló Hotels & Resorts, Occidental Hotels & Resorts and Allegro Hotels.

It is also part of the Crestline Hotels & Resorts group, an independent hotel company with 130 establishments.

The Coconut Island resort features three swimming pools and vast tropical gardens, offering opportunities to engage in activities like yoga and Pilates or simply enjoying sunset views from the comfort of a sun lounger.
