Project Management for Bangkok Metro Extension Awarded to Dorsch Consult Asia

Dorsch Consult Asia Co. Ltd., a Dorsch Gruppe company, was awarded the project management consultant contract for MRT Blue Line extension in Bangkok, Thailand. The contact has been signed. Mass Rapid Transit Authority (MRTA) Bangkok, Thailand is the awarding authority for the 27 kilometres extension of the underground light rail system. Just for the construction and consultant contracts the investment volume amounts to one billion Euro. The construction will start in March 2011, the extension which includes 21 train stations will be finished in summer 2016.

The awarding authority and Dorsch Consult Asia are looking back on a long-term successful cooperation. Dorsch Consult Asia was already involved in preliminary design for the Blue Line as well as in final design for the Orange, Violet and Blue Lines, “Hence we have all the necessary know-how concerning the geotechnical conditions and the entire technical challenges,” Jürgen Supik, CEO of Dorsch Consult Asia Co Ltd. comments the follow-up project. “The project will also underpass the Chao Phrya River and densely populated China Town areas.” Supik describes the challenges.
