JEC Thailand Awarded Contract for Mega Bangna

Jardine Engineering Corporation (JEC) Thailand is pleased to announce that it has won the contract to supply, install and commission a comprehensive set of backbone building operation systems at the new Mega Bangna shopping complex in Bangkok.

Mega Bangna is South East Asia’s first low-rise regional mall and will have a total building area of 400,000 square metres.  The anchor store of the two-level complex is Thailand’s first branch of IKEA. Upon completion it will be the largest shopping complex of its kind in Thailand.

The new development will cater to a wide range of interests including fashion, food, home, banking, health and wellness, children zone, to technology. It will also house twenty luxurious theatres, together with other entertainment facilities such as bowling, ice skating and karaoke.

The gigantic shopping centre is a joint venture between Siam Future Development, Ikano Pte. and SPS Global Trade Co., Ltd.

JEC Thailand will apply its 75 years of local experience to supply, install and commission all mechanical and electrical systems including air-conditioning and ventilation, electrical and communication systems, and sanitation, plumbing and fire protection systems.

Narongchai Chavanussaporn, Managing Director of JEC Thailand said, “The award of this major contract to JEC is a resounding acknowledgement of our position as Thailand’s leading contractor of building services for shopping complexes and hotels.”

Contract implementation will commence in November 2010 and all work is scheduled to be completed by March 2012.
