Cambodia asks NEDA to assist with feasibility studies on construction of roads in Siem Reap, Oddar Meanchey, Banteay Meanchey and Battambang provinces

Officials of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) requested the assistance of NEDA in conducting a feasibility study in constructing roads in four provinces.

Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (NEDA) was requested to study the possibility of constructing six roads in Siem Reap, Oddar Meanchey, Banteay Meanchey, and Battambang to boost transport and economic growth between Cambodia and Thailand.

The request was made during a meeting between Permanent Secretary of State, Toch Chankosal, and Deputy Director of NEDA, Col Saranyu Viriyavejakul D. Sc. The meeting was on the application of loan by Cambodia to Thailand and request for technical assistance on the study on road construction.

The constructions of the road would provide more routes for the land traffic between trucks transporting to and from Cambodia. As trade continues between the Kingdoms of Cambodia and Thailand, construction of the proposed roads would also decrease the chances of traffic for import and export trucks.
