TotalEnergies to install 1.7-MWp rooftop solar array in Vietnam

French energy major TotalEnergies SE (EPA:TTE) will build a 1.7-MWp solar array on a rooftop of a footwear factory owned by China’s Huali Industrial Group Co Ltd (SHE:300979) in Vietnam.

TotalEnergies said today it was hired to build and operate the photovoltaic (PV) system at Huali’s Annora Vietnam Footwear Co Ltd factory site located in Thanh Hoa province.

The factory, which designs and makes shoes for sports brand Nike Inc (NYSE:NKE), will pay for the generated electricity without assuming upfront investment risks, TotalEnergies said.

The French company will install over 4,000 PV panels as part of the project. The system will be capable of generating some 2,000 MWh per year, once up and running.

At present, TotalEnergies has a portfolio of over 600 MW of distributed generation (DG) solar projects in development and operation worldwide through its subsidiary TotalEnergies Renewables Distributed Generation.
