Thais in favour of building a new airport 57km from Bangkok in Nakhon Pathom
Sanook reported that a majority of Thais are in favor of building a new airport in Nakhon Pathom.
The provincial capital of the province lies 57 kilometers west of the capital Bangkok.
In a Nida Poll 65% of respondents thought it was a good idea citing benefits to tourism and the wider sharing of revenue and business opportunities.
But 18% disagreed saying that Suvanabhumi and Don Mueang airports could cope and that developing those airports would be better.
Some 14% offered no opinion and 1.7% had no idea.
In the poll that asked 1,273 people over the age of 15 on 12th and 13th of September just over 62% said that hadn’t even been on a plane.
