Thailand’s Rama 2 Road construction, ongoing since 1970, to be completed within end of 2025

Setting an ambitious goal, the government said construction on Rama 2 Road, which has been ongoing since 1970, will be completed before the end of 2025.

Government Spokesperson Chai Watcharong said the remaining construction contracts for the road include:

An expressway project linking Rama 3, Dao Khanong, and the Outer Ring Road in the west (sections 1-4).

An elevated highway project No. 35 on Rama 2 Road, spanning from Bang Khun Thian to Ekkachai Interchange (sections 1-3).

A motorway project (M82) from Bang Khun Thian to Ban Phaeo, running between Ekkachai and Ban Phaeo (sections 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 9, and 10).

An interchange construction project in Ban Phaeo, Samut Sakhon.

Most of these constructions are expected to be completed by June 2025, while the section between Ekkachai and Ban Phaeo on sections 4 and 6 is anticipated to be finished by December 2025, according to Chai.

Chai also added that any contractor failing to achieve at least 50% of their promised progress each month will have their contract reviewed and possibly revoked.
