More than 41 per cent of the double-track railway construction between Map Kabao and Thanon Chira Junction stations has been finished and the project would be completed by 2022.

The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) project is located between Saraburi and Nakhon Ratchasima provinces, with a length of 132 kilometres. Work on the project began in 2018, with a Bt29.968 million budget.

SRT acting governor Worawut Mala said that the double-track railway can support two fold increase in trains, increasing passengers’ safety, as well as the number of goods transported through the stations in one time.

“The construction is divided in three contracts, and the second one is waiting to be approved by the Cabinet,” he added.
