Thai & Chinese governments to sign four construction contracts this month for high-speed train from Bangkok to Nong Khai

Daily News reported that the State Railways of Thailand said that the Thai and Chinese governments would be signing four contracts related to the building of the high speed train from the Thai capital Bangkok to Nong Khai in the north east.

A ceremony will be held on Monday March 29th in which 36.1 billion baht’s worth of contracts relating to the first length of track comprising 76.4 kms will be signed.

The four contracts are as follows:

1. Don Muang to Nawanakhon – 21.8 kms at 8.6 billion baht.

2. Nawanakhon to Ban Pho, 23 kms, at 11.5 billion baht.

3. 6.5 billion baht to be spent on a repair and maintenance yard at Chiang Rak Noi.

4. Phra Kaew – Saraburi, 31.6 kms at 9.4 billion baht.

After the contracts are signed a “Notice to Proceed” (NTP) will be announced.

The contracts will have a validity of 36 months from the issuance of the NTP.

Other sections of the track are still having their contracts negotiated.

They all relate to the 1st stage of the construction plan that is from Bangkok to Nakhon Ratchasima, Korat, that is a little over 250 kms north east of the Thai capital by road.
