Siemens Marubeni Consortium handed over South Bangkok Power Plant Replacement Project Phase 1 (SBRP1) to EGAT for commercial operations

Thailand’s most efficient combined cycle power plant (CCPP) to date, the South Bangkok Power Plant Replacement Project Phase 1 (SBRP1), was recently handed over to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) for commercial operations.

The project is an EPC project delivered by a consortium of Siemens AG, Siemens Limited (renamed to Siemens Energy Limited since 1st June 2020) and Marubeni Corporation.

Siemens was responsible for the design, delivery and commissioning of the key components of the power plant, which is configured as two Single Shaft Units. Each Single Shaft consists of a Siemens SGT5-8000H Gas Turbine, a Siemens SGen-3000W Generator, a Siemens SST-5000 Steam Turbine, as well as a Siemens HTT Benson 4-Pressure Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG).

Siemens Energy will continue to support EGAT for site operations for the next 12 years under the Service Agreement (LTSA) for the core components, ensuring safe and reliable energy supply for Thailand’s power grid.
