Samsung Engineering Wins 130 Billion-Won Gas Plant Order

Samsung Engineering announced on November 23 that it received a 130-billion-won gas plant construction order from Thailand’s state-run petroleum firm PTT Public Company Ltd. Under this project, three units of 16-megawatt gas turbine compressors would be installed in a location 70 kilometers north from Bangkok, the capital of Thailand.

Samsung Engineering received this order on a turn-key basis, thereby being responsible for the entire process of the construction project ranging from design to procurement and construction.

The plant is scheduled for completion by 2018, contributing to increasing the Rayong gas production plant’s daily gas supply to Bangkok up to 800 cubic meters.

Since it entered the Thailand market in 1991, Samsung Engineering has won a flurry of petrochemical plant orders from there. This order marked the 16th one it received from PPT. On the back of the order, Samsung Engineering plans to step up efforts to gain a larger share in Thailand’s gas plant market.
