Plans for a 22-kilometre extension to Bangkok’s elevated Don Muang tollway from Rangsit in Pathum Thani to Bang Pa-in in Ayutthaya

The Department of Highways (DoH) plans to extend the Uttaraphimuk Elevated Highway, also known as the Don Muang tollway, with a total investment of 31 billion baht.

DoH director-general Sarawut Songwilai said the project will be a 22-kilometre extension starting from the Uttaraphimuk Highway at Rangsit in Pathum Thani and running to Bang Pa-in in Ayutthaya.

The extension will also link to the new Bang Pa-in-Nakhon Ratchasima elevated motorway, which will be completed around the end of next year.

Mr Sarawut said the project will be carried out under a public-private partnership model. The DoH will submit the plan to the Transport Ministry in December before it heads to cabinet, with final approval expected around March next year.
