Yangon permits work to resume at over 100 construction sites

The Yangon Region Construction Supervision Committee has allowed work to resume at more than 100 construction sites in compliance with COVID-19 restrictions in Yangon Region, said U Myo Myint, associate secretary (1) at the committee.

“It’s not possible to keep the construction sites closed for too long because developers have already employed the required number of workers. So, the committee is planning to allow more sites to resume as soon as possible. So far, more than 100 constructions have been cleared,” he said.

More than 400 businesses have applied for permission to resume their operations. Those which want to resume their projects have to follow the latest guidelines of the COVID-19 prevention and control (Version 4.0) issued by the Ministry of Health and Sports for factories, workplaces and construction sites and the 18-point examination form of the Yangon Region Construction Supervision Committee.

District inspection teams will occasionally check the sites to ensure they are actually adhering to the rules, and those that fail to comply will be temporarily suspended, according to the committee’s announcement. -Translated
