Contractor replaced after abandoning work on Trang Airport terminal project
The Department of Airports stated that the 1.2-billion-baht Trang Airport terminal project has been delayed after the contractor abandoned the work for over seven months due to severe financial issues.
Although 98% of the construction was complete, the contractor failed to finish the final phase, leaving the terminal in disrepair with leaks, damaged ceilings, exposed wiring, and abandoned landscaping.
Following the contract’s expiration on April 22, the department imposed penalties, urged the contractor to resume work, and issued warnings.
After no progress was made, the contract was terminated on October 30.
A new contractor is being sought to complete the terminal by the end of 2025.
The delay has led to penalties of nearly 200 million baht and disrupted Trang’s economy, with limited flight options and higher airfares due to the unfinished terminal.
