Ch. Thawee-A S Construction Joint Venture sign contract for the Double-Track Railway Project, Phase 2, Khon Kaen-Nong Khai section
The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has signed a contract with the Ch. Thawee-A S Construction Joint Venture for the Double-Track Railway Project, Phase 2, Khon Kaen-Nong Khai section, valued at 28.68 billion baht.
A moral agreement was also signed to improve regional rail transport and connect with the high-speed rail route between Thailand, Laos, and China.
The project follows a cabinet resolution from October 16, 2023, as part of Thailand’s infrastructure development strategy to expand the intercity double-track railway network (Phase 2).
The SRT received approval on December 16, 2021, to move forward with the Khon Kaen-Nong Khai route, enhancing rail services and reducing transport costs while supporting energy savings.
The project will cover 167 kilometers, with 14 stations, 4 stop points, 3 freight yards, and new signaling and telecommunications systems. It’s expected to be completed and operational by 2027.
