Black & Veatch to support 1,500 MW power plant expansions in Thailand
Marubeni Corp. has selected Black & Veatch to support the balance-of-plant design and procurement for the 1,500 MW expansion of two combined-cycle power plants in Thailand. The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand owns both plants.
The projects involve adding a new 780 MW power block to the Chana combined-cycle power plant that consists of two, single-shaft combined-cycle trains and a fourth combined-cycle power block to the Wang Noi combined-cycle power plant.
Black & Veatch will provide Marubeni and partners Siemens AG and Siemens Limited with design engineering and procurement for balance-of-plant equipment and other services, including technical field assistance, heat recovery steam generators and commissioning of otherBlack & Veatch-furnished plant equipment.
The expansions are expected to provide 1,500 MW of additional capacity and be completed by 2014.
