Bangkok named the world’s most visited city in 2024
Bangkok has been named the world’s most visited city in 2024, with over 32.4 million international tourists, surpassing Istanbul’s 23 million.
A report by Euromonitor International credits this success to Bangkok’s tourism-friendly visa policies, including a 60-day visa exemption for 93 countries and expanded visa-on-arrival eligibility.
The city’s tourism grew over 30% in 2024, reflecting the strength of Thailand’s tourism sector. However, Bangkok ranked outside the top 10 for overall city attractiveness, which considers factors like infrastructure, safety, and sustainability, with Paris taking the top spot.
