The Dutch embassy will relocate from its historic Wireless Road premises to new offices on Rama IV Road in August, ending nearly 80 years at its current site.
The embassy marked the move with a farewell event on June 25, which brought together the government, academics, business leaders and long-standing partners to celebrate decades of Dutch-Thai cooperation before beginning a new chapter at Central Park Offices.
For almost 80 years, the Wireless Road compound has served as a centre for diplomatic engagement, cultural exchange and bilateral cooperation between Thailand and the Netherlands.
“What has always driven our cooperation has been the people behind every project, every partnership and every exchange,” Ambassador Remco van Wijngaarden said.
“The strength of Dutch-Thai relations comes from the commitment, passion and dedication of the individuals and organisations working together to build our shared future. We are moving to new premises, but these principles will remain.”
The embassy would continue to strengthen cooperation in areas including water management, sustainability, agriculture, innovation, culture, education, human rights, and trade.
The embassy will begin welcoming visitors to its new offices on the 22nd floor of Central Park Offices on Rama IV Road from Aug 10.
Its consular section will provide emergency services only from July 28 to Aug 9 during the relocation, with no appointments available during that period.
A highlight of the farewell event was the launch of “Collaboration Beyond the Location”, a public art initiative featuring six cow sculptures redesigned by students from Chulalongkorn University, Srinakharinwirot University and RMUTR Poh-Chang Academy of Arts.
Created through a partnership involving the embassy, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, Dulux Paints by Akzo Nobel Paints (Thailand) Ltd and the participating institutions, the sculptures were inspired by Dutch-Thai cooperation.
The sculptures will be relocated to Sathorn Park.
