CIArb Thailand Branch Seminar – 27 January 2026, upcoming seminar entitled ‘When Winning Is Not Enough: Damages in International Arbitration’

The Ciarb Thailand Branch is pleased to invite you to an upcoming seminar entitled When Winning Is Not Enough: Damages in International Arbitration, to be held on Tuesday, 27 January 2026, in Bangkok, with a hybrid attendance option.
While success on liability is often the focus of arbitration proceedings, it does not always translate into meaningful financial recovery. In practice, many claims succeed on the merits but fall short on damages, sometimes resulting in only nominal awards or, in the worst cases, no damages at all. This session will examine why that happens and how practitioners can better position their cases on quantum from an early stage.
The seminar brings together counsel, arbitrators, quantum experts, and a litigation funder to discuss how damages are assessed in international arbitration, with a focus on practical considerations. Topics will include the calculation and proof of damages, evidentiary strategy, valuation methodologies, presentation of damages claims and defences, and the interaction between damages analysis and funding decisions.
