Wireless Road’s One Bangkok site completes largest continuous Mat foundation concrete pour in southeast Asia

One Bangkok has emphasised its commitment to local infrastructure growth by completing a record-breaking MAT foundation concrete pour over a 33 hour-and-15-minute period.

The work, which took place at the site of One Bangkok, involved coordination of 547 trucks which provided 23,725 cu m of concrete for the pour. The major construction highlight took place in February 2020 for an office building at the mixed-use site, when joint venture holders TCC Assets and Frasers Property Holdings (Thailand), together with Concrete Products and Aggregate Co., Ltd. (CPAC), and partners K.C.S. & Associates Co., Ltd., Stonehenge Inter Plc and Italian-Thai Development Corporation Limited, completed the pour.

One Bangkok showed undue consideration during the work which saw no major disruption to the surrounding community. This is thanks to several measures that were introduced during the pouring including wash bays for vehicles before leaving the site, dust control system around the site in addition to air and noise pollution sensors and the cleaning and weeping of all adjoining roads and footpaths.

To prevent the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak, numerous health and cleanliness measures were brought in during this time to ensure workers’ wellbeing during the outbreak.

A 4.5-meter thick foundation was used for the 170-metre tower, ploying 2,200 tons of reinforced steel. The concrete is a special low-head material that contains a high compressive strength of 600-kilograms per square centimetre which is even higher than what was used for the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest skyscraper.

The importance of this milestone occasion has highlighted One Bangkok’s ambition to set new benchmarks across Southeast Asia, including Thailand through its unmatched industry knowledge and the experience of its partners. Following the Mat foundation pouring, One Bangkok will continue to build towards building the status of the nation as a global leader.

The entire project, which aims to be a global landmark destination, is set to open in 2023, and will consist of a range of mixed-use units including a selection of grade-A office buildings, a number of luxury and lifestyle hotels and residential towers in addition to retail precincts and several art and cultural hubs.
