While Rivals Dry Out, Apex Circuit Launches Expansion

Construction News

Apex Circuit broke ground this week on a new $130 million plant here, as the printed circuit board fabricator expects sales to continue to rise in the coming years.

The new factory will be sited at the Sinsakhon Industrial Estate, south of Bangkok, and have a monthly capacity of 300,000 sq. m., the company said. Phase one of construction is scheduled to be finished in the first quarter 2013.

Apex Circuit reported big jumps in orders in the third and fourth quarters as the PCB fabricator won programs from competitors in flooded parts of Thailand. Apex Circuit’s own factories escaped damage from the 50-year floods last fall.

While its competitors were drying out, Apex Circuit ended up seeing sales jump 11% sequentially in the third quarter. Once the new site is online, Apex Circuit said the company’s factories here will be able to produce more than $500 million worth of boards a year.
