Update on Under-Construction Elevated Road Collapses In Lat Krabang, Bangkok
Updates on the collapsed elevated road that was under construction on Luang Phaeng Road in Bangkok’s Lat Krabang district
There were 2 fatalities, including a construction worker and an engineer, and 17 people were injured.
Additionally, at least 4 cars and 8 motorbikes were either crushed or damaged.
Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt stated that the collapse was not due to force majeure but rather irregularities in the construction process.
An ongoing investigation is being conducted to determine the individuals responsible for the incident.
The collapsed segment, measuring 500 meters in length, was part of the 3.4-kilometer-long Onnut-Lat Krabang elevated road project commissioned by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.
The project had a budget of 1.66 billion baht and was awarded to a joint venture between Tharawan Construction and Npa Construction.
The road will be closed for 3-4 days to facilitate the clearing of debris near the collapse site, which extends from Lotus Lat Krabang to Jorakay Noi police station.
