Construction News

TOT Plc opened the sale of bidding documents yesterday for its 3G nationwide network expansion project worth 19.98 billion baht. Bid document sales will run until Dec 27.

Bidders buying the documents are required to submit their technical and financial proposals back to TOT by Jan 10 along with the details of their creditor banks. The set of documents costs 500,000 baht.

An e-auction is scheduled for Jan 28.

TOT senior executive vice-president for mobile business Kamthon Waithayakul said it expected to sign a contract with the winning bidder by January and could deploy equipment in key areas within 180 days in the greater Bangkok area and other key economic provinces.

He said the project will comprise three parts: 17.44 billion baht for procurement of network equipment, 540 million baht as a reserve and 2 billion to upgrade TOT’s 3G network in Bangkok.

He added that within 180 days of signing a contract, service could be rolled out in 13 provinces: Chon Buri, Rayong, Songkhla, Surat Thani, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lampang, Phitsanulok, Udon Thani, Nakhon Ratchasima, Khon Kaen and Nong Khai. The other 59 provinces would be covered over the next 180 days.

Bidders may now use performance of at least 500 million baht overseas as a reference for the bidding with a certification from its embassy.
