Thailand’s most valuable real estate is located on Bangkok’s Silom Road, with property worth Bt850,000 per square wah (4 square metres), followed by the capital’s Rajprasong intersection, the epicentre of last year’s red-shirt political rally, where each square wah fetches Bt800,000, according to the Treasury Department.

Average land prices nation-wide increased 21.34 per cent over the past four years, Treasury Department director-general Naris Chaiyasoot said yesterday.

The department has completed its land-price appraisal for 2012-2015, a price reference guide for fee and tax collection on real-estate transactions, Naris said.

Average land prices in Bangkok have risen 17.13 per cent from the 2008-2011 appraisal, while those upcountry have increased 21.40 per cent, he said.

The most expensive land plots are located on Silom Road between Sala Daeng and the Narathiwat intersection, at Bt850,000 per square wah, up 43 per cent from the 2008-2011 appraisal.
