Siam Commercial Bank, Gunkul Engineering offer solar rooftop campaign to help clients pay less electricity costs
Thailand’s major lender Siam Commercial Bank Plc (SCB) has partnered with energy producer Gunkul Engineering Plc (GUNKUL) to offer clients discounts on solar rooftop installation fees, in the aim of lowering their electricity bills this summer.
In a “Save Electricity Bills with Solar Rooftop” campaign, mortgage and general clients of SCB are eligible for discounts up to 59,990 baht on solar rooftop’s installation fees and free on-site survey service, with a two-year warranty.
Auraratana Jutimitta, SCB’s Chief Retail and Business Banking Officer, said the campaign intends to meet “new lifestyles as more people are working at home, including consumers seeking to shift to renewable energy.”
“Amid the recovery of economic activities, SCB is committed to taking care of customers with financial solutions supporting their liquidity,” she added. The campaign will be launched from March 1 until April 30.
SCB said clients whose electricity bills are over 3,000 baht per month could save them up to 60 per cent of the total costs.
“Solar rooftops are getting more and more attention,” Naruchol Damrongpiyawut, Gunkul’s Chief Operating Officer of Investment Strategy and Innovation said.
That was due to rising electricity bills, growing demand for electricity during the pandemic and the growth of the electric vehicle market, she noted.
Since the Covid-19 pandemic disrupted the economy, forcing people to work from home, rising electricity bills are one of people’s burden during the economic downturn. The Thai government has also rolled out some cost-cutting measures to lower utility bills.
