RATCH-LAO Service provides Operation and Maintenance personnel for Nam Ngiep 1 Hydroelectric Power Plant enhancing skilled workforce in Lao PDR
RATCH Group Public Company Limited disclosed that RATCH–LAO Service Company Limited (“RATCH-LAO Service”), its wholly-owned subsidiary, has entered into the Personnel Providing Services for Operation and Maintenance Services for Nam Ngiep 1 Hydropower Project, Lao PDR with the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT). The 36.67-million baht agreement will be effective for 58 months, starting from May 2020 to February 2025.
Mr. Kijja Sripatthangkura, RATCH Group Chief Executive Officer said that RATCH–LAO Service is RATCH’s subsidiary established in Lao PDR since 2009. It has deep insight in employment regulations and labor market in Lao PDR. Previously, it employed EGAT Laotian operation and maintenance workforce for Hongsa Thermal Power Plant and their performances have been satisfactory. Under the contract, 15 Laotians will be recruited for operation and maintenance job working together with EGAT’s staff in the power plant.
“The agreement reflects EGAT’s confidence in RATCH Group and also extends RATCH-LAO Service’s business in power plant’s operation and maintenance in Lao PDR. It will create jobs in Laos PDR and also enhance Laotian’s technical skill and competency by learning from working experiences with EGAT’s workforce, the international standard specialist in power plant operation and maintenance. These people will become skilled human resources in Lao’s workforce market especially in power sector and drive the success of their Battery of Asia Policy,” said Mr. Kijja.
The 269-MW Nam Ngiep 1 Hydropower project locates in Bolikhamxay Province, Lao PDR. The annual 1,490 million units of electricity are distributed to EGAT through the 500 kV transmission line to Udon Thani substation 3. The remaining electricity generation is dispatched to Electricite du Laos (EDL) at an average of 122 million units per year through the 115 kV grid system to Pak San substation. Nam Ngiep 1 has been commencing commercial operation since 2019.
