Finnish company wins owner’s engineer services assignment for 90MW wind farm off Vinh Chau

01 November 2019

Finnish consultancy Poyry has been awarded owner’s engineer services assignment for a 90MW offshore wind farm off Vinh Chau in Vietnam by Thai developer Banpu Power.

The project located off Soc Trang province is planned to be built in three phases of 30MW each.

The detailed engineering design phase will start next month with site mobilization due to start in February.

Poyry will provide a full scope of owner’s engineering services for the implementation phase of the project, having previously supported Banpu Power as technical advisor in the feasibility study phase, EPC bidding process and energy yield assessments.

The services will include project management, reviewing of EPC contractor’s engineering design, as well as monitoring of the wind farm construction and commissioning.

In addition to the wind farm itself, Poyry’s scope will also cover the external 110 kV transmission line and grid connection to the transmission grid.

The output from this project will be sold to Vietnam Electricity Group as per Vietnam’s standard power purchase agreement for wind power projects.
