Finnish consulting and engineering firm Poyry Plc has been selected as owner’s engineer for а 340-MW wind project in Vietnam, it said on Thursday.

The contract was awarded by Thailand-based electricity producer Super Energy Corporation Public Co Ltd and was registered in Poyry’s the Energy Business Group order stock for the first half of 2018. Financial details were not provided.

Under the contract, Poyry will conduct a feasibility study, pick a wind turbine supplier and carry out a technical review of the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts. Additionally, it will also take care of project management and the engineering design review for the wind project that consists of up to six sub-projects in the provinces of Ca Mau, Bac Lieu and Soc Trang.

More specifically, among the six projects are a 40-MW wind farm in Ca Mau, to be brought online in the second quarter of 2020, a 30-MW wind park in Soc Trang, slated for completion by mid-2020, and a 142-MW plant in Bac Lieu. The latter will be put on stream by the end of 2020.

The 340-MW scheme is part of Super Energy’s USD-600-million (EUR 516.5m) investment plan for the next three-four years aimed at expanding its renewable energy portfolio in line with growing demand in Southeast Asia.
