Orsted probes potential for Vietnam offshore giant
Developer has applied to local authorities for permission to start site surveys for a 3.9GW project off Hai Phong
Orsted has is planning a 3900MW offshore wind farm off Vietnam, with an estimated investment of between $12bn and $13bn.
Details of the project, reported by Vietnam’s state news agency VNA, reveal it will be comprised of three phases and will use next generation turbines with tower heights from 150 metres to 200 metres.
The project location is in waters 14 km south-east of Bach Long Vy island and 36 km north-west of Long Chau archipelago.
An Orsted spokesperson confirmed to reNEWS that Orsted has applied to local authorities for permission to start site surveys off the coast of Vietnam’s Hai Phong province with the aim of potentially developing offshore wind projects.
