Oakwood Central Hat Yai to debut with CPN venture
Central Pattana Plc (CPN), a leading real estate developer in Thailand, has partnered with The Ascott Limited, a global hospitality company and wholly-owned subsidiary of CapitaLand Investment, for the development of Oakwood Central Hat Yai.
The development marks the debut of the Oakwood brand in Hat Yai, reflecting strong hospitality demand in one of southern Thailand’s economic hubs.
The hotel design includes a connection to Central Hat Yai, a major mall. Just 20 minutes from Hat Yai airport, the property is designed to cater to both leisure and urban living needs.
Oakwood Central Hat Yai is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2026, offering 182 rooms and suites to capture growing cross-border travel demand from regional markets.
Naparat Sriwanvit, chief financial officer and president of hotel and office businesses at CPN, said the partnership with Ascott reflects CPN’s strategic expansion of its hotel portfolio in high-potential economic cities.
“The development of Oakwood Central Hat Yai adds to our mixed-use portfolio under the retail-led, mixed-use development model, elevating urban development standards and creating long-term sustainable value through our ‘The Ecosystem for All’ strategy,” said Ms Naparat.
Wong Kar Ling, chief strategy officer and managing director for Southeast Asia at Ascott, said the partnership with CPN represents a shared commitment to shaping high-quality, future-ready destinations across Thailand.
The collaboration underscores the company’s confidence in the long-term potential of Hat Yai, she said.
Phoom Chirathivat, head of hotel business at CPN, said Hat Yai has strong year-round demand from both business and leisure travellers.
Kanit Sangmookda, country general manager for Thailand and Laos at Ascott, said the new project brings Ascott’s portfolio in Thailand and Laos to 32 operational and pipeline properties.
He said the launch of Oakwood Central Hat Yai marks the first internationally branded hotel in the city, introducing a new standard of accommodation to southern Thailand.
