The Thai Minister of Labour has chaired the unveiling of windmills forming the Romklao Wind Farm in Nikom Kam Soidistrict of northeastern Mukdahan province

The Thai Minister of Labour has chaired the unveiling of windmills forming the Romklao Wind Farm in Nikom Kam Soidistrict of northeastern Mukdahan province.

The unveiling ceremony was attended by the province’s Deputy Governor Suwit Chanhawon, the district chief Chaisit Suwannachote and representatives of Winchai Co Ltd as well as locals of the area.

The wind farm by Winchai Co Ltd consists of 13 windmills able to produce a combined 45 Megawatts of power. Each windmill is 167 meters high, the highest in Asia, and covers a plot of 1,200 rai that spans both Mukdahan and Yasothon. The project was approved by three separate public forums and is to be fully operational by April 2019.

Labour Minister Pol Gen Adul Saengsinghakaeo explained today that the farm will produce environmentally-friendly energy and create employment in the area. It is also expected the farm will become a new tourist attraction.

The Deputy Governor echoed the sentiments and revealed that Nikom Kam Soi is to become known for its windmills with budget already set aside to promote the farm.
