JFE Steel to build a continuous galvanizing line for autos in Thailand

JFE Steel Corporation has announced that it will construct Thailand‘s first continuous galvanizing line for automobiles at the Hemaraj Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate of Rayong Province in southeastern Thailand.

JFE Steel’s wholly owned subsidiary JFE Steel Galvanizing (Thailand) Limited will handle construction and operation of the facility, as well as sales of hot dip galvanized steel.

The new continuous galvanizing line will enable JFE Steel to respond to increasingly sophisticated demands from automakers in Thailand for high-end automotive steel sheet that can be procured locally.

New Continuous Galvanizing Line

1. Product: Hot dip galvanized steel sheet (primarily for automobiles)

2. Production capacity: 400,000 tonnes per annum

3. Operation startup (planned): April 2013

4. Sizes: Sheet thickness: 0.4mm – 2.3mm: Sheet width: 800mm – 1,880mm
