GreenYellow Partners With Betagro To Develop Multi-Site Solar Projects In Thailand

GreenYellow, a leading developer and operator of decentralized solar photovoltaic and energy efficiency projects, partners with Betagro, a world-class branded food company, developing on-site solar plants as part of their shared vision to adopt clean energy at eight Betagro facilities countrywide. The multi-site project, with a total installed capacity of over 8.3 MWp, encompasses a variety of solar solutions including rooftops, solar farms, and solar carports.

These eight solar power plants are fully financed, designed, built, operated, and maintained by GreenYellow through a long-term solar PPA scheme. Under such agreements, GreenYellow owns the solar plants located at Betagro’s sites and provides substantial electricity cost savings for Betagro which generate up to 12 GWh per year of green electricity, equivalent to 6080 tons of CO2 emissions avoided per year.

This multi-site solar project, combining GreenYellow’s expertise in solar power with Betagro’s available area and commitment to making a difference in society, will help improve the sustainability of Betagro’s operations through procuring cheaper and greener electricity across these eight Betagro facilities in Thailand. This is in line with both GreenYellow and Betagro’s goals of promoting green energy to aim for sustainable life.

Mr. Chartchai Leukulwatanachai, Chief Operational Development Officer, Betagro Public Company Limited, said that “Betagro sees the value in operating our business along with shaping sustainable growth throughout our value chain which serves to bring benefits to the society, communities, and the environment through conducting our business by ESG principles, covering the environmental, social, and govern aspects. This aligns with Sustainable Development Goals: SDGs of the United Nations and one of the aspects that Betagro focuses on is to develop and efficiently maximize the use of our resources, especially through shifting to affordable and clean energy. To the present, Betagro has implemented solar systems in the factories which calculated that at the peak time, solar energy has powered 75% of the energy used in the factory, while reducing greenhouse gas emissions by more than 22,000 tons in which solar power takes up approximately 8% out of the total electricity consumption throughout all factories.”

The partnership between Betagro and GreenYellow not only will reaffirm the aim of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals together but also with GreenYellow’s expertise and strength are the main essence for Betagro to achieve the SDG goal by shifting parts of the grid power to solar energy. In addition, this alliance acts as a guide for the organization to manage its carbon footprint which the company seeks to reduce greenhouse gas emissions throughout the value chain”

GreenYellow helps companies to reduce their energy-related costs and carbon footprint by consuming less and greener energy while offering a high level of alignment with organization culture, complete authority over procedures and operational structure, sharing knowledge and insights, and providing businesses greater agility.

Frank Glück, CEO of GreenYellow Thailand and Asia added, “We are proud to support Betagro making a success of its energy transition with our Solar PPA solution and to effectively contribute to reducing their carbon footprint by adopting solar energy.”
