Construction News

Four companies will probably take part in an electronic auction to supply 115 train carriages worth more than 4.9 billion baht to the State Railway of Thailand (SRT).

The bidding results are expected to be known in August.

The SRT is in the process of checking the qualifications of firms vying to produce the 115 passenger carriages, SRT deputy governor Sitthipong Prommala said Tuesday.

Four firms – Engineer Care and Transnet Engineering Joint Venture, Powerline Engineering Co, Loxley Plc and BBCD Joint Venture – have shown an interest, he said.

The results of the bidders’ technical qualifications will be announced on July 24 and the electronic auction will take place in August, he said.

The successful bidder would be required to deliver the carriages within 24 months, or in 2015.

The carriages would be used to serve passengers on four routes: From Bangkok to Chiang Mai, Nong Khai, Ubon Ratchathani and Hat Yai.
