Main contractor Sino-Thai Engineering & Construction Pcl (Stecon) has opted for five Liebherr 132 EC-H tower cranes for the construction of the new headquarters for CAT Telecom Pcl in Bangkok.

CAT is the state-owned company that operates Thailand’s international telecommunications infrastructure, including its international gateways, satellite, and submarine cable networks connections.

The new headquarters is located at the Chaeng Wattana district in northern Bangkok, adjacent to the recently constructed Government Complex that houses many ministries, departments and government agencies.

Set on the shore of a lake, amidst spacious landscaping, the project consists of a 60 m high main office building together with a multi-storey car park, an indoor sports club building, and outdoor sporting facilities including tennis courts.

Stecon purchased four of the Liebherr 132 EC-H cranes new from Liebherr Singapore specifically for this project, with the contractor following its practice of using only Liebherr tower cranes for its fleet.

The fifth unit is on hire from the rental division of its subsidiary STIT Co Ltd.

The 132 EC-H is a high-top crane that has a maximum lift capacity of 8 t, and 1.85 t at the full 55 m length of the jib.

Stecon’s contract is for Baht 2.4 billion (USD 71.7 million) and is for a 1,200-day period.
