The first train for Bangkok’s Orange Line has completed production and testing at a factory in Turkey and will be sent to Germany for further trial runs, Bangkok Expressway and Metro (BEM) said.
The second train, now undergoing testing in Turkey, will be the first delivered to Thailand and is expected to arrive in late November 2026. Other trains remain under production.
Trial services on the eastern section, from Thailand Cultural Centre to Yaek Rom Klao, are expected to begin in late 2027, ahead of commercial operations in early 2028.
Construction of the western section, from Bang Khun Non to Thailand Cultural Centre, is 37% complete. BEM expects daily passenger trips to reach 100,000 after the eastern section opens and 300,000 when the full 35.97-kilometre line begins operating in 2030.
