Centara Hotels & Resorts has announced its third hotel in Bangkok, Centara Watergate Pavillion Hotel & Spa Bangkok, a 4-star property located at Rachaprarop and above the Watergate Pavillion shopping complex.
The announcement follows the signing of a management contract on June 7, 2011 with Oversee Construction Co Ltd., the owners of the project.
Centara’s two well-established hotels in Bangkok, Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld and Sofitel Centara Grand Bangkok, are both adjacent to prime shopping malls, a factor in acquiring the new management contract.
Centara Watergate Hotel and Spa Bangkok is being developed at an investment cost of approximately 700 million baht and will be opening in the second quarter of 2012.

Centara Grand at CentralWorld is adjacent to the CentralWorld lifestyle complex, while Sofitel Centara Grand is adjacent to Central Department Store. Centara Watergate Pavillion Hotel & Spa Bangkok is adjacent to Watergate Pavillion, which is owned and managed by Oversee Construction Co Ltd.
Chris Bailey, Senior Vice President for Sales and Marketing at Centara Hotels & Resorts, said that the 4-star category of the hotel broadens Centara’s base in Bangkok, as both of the existing properties are 5-star.
“This opens up another sector of the market for us and enhances our presence in the Rachaprarop district, where Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld is also located,” he said.
“Centara Watergate Pavillion Hotel & Spa Bangkok and the Watergate Pavillion shopping complex will expand the attractions of Rachaprarop itself, which in recent years has emerged as the shopping and lifestyle center of Bangkok,” Bailey added.
The hotel and shopping complex are located inside a newly-constructed 20-story building, with the hotel taking up a total of 10 floors and featuring a total of 288 guestrooms. Of these, 243 will be standard rooms, 27 will be Premium rooms, and 18 will offer a family-friendly concept.
Facilities will include an all-day restaurant with a total of 300 seats indoors and outdoors, a rooftop restaurant with 100 seats, and a rooftop bar with 80 seats. There will be a Spa Cenvaree with 9 treatment rooms and a 56 sqm fitness center.
Two meeting rooms, each of 56 sqm, will cater for the meetings and events sector.
The Watergate Pavillion shopping complex is being built in 2 phases. Phase 1 consists of 18 floors and 2 basements, totalling 60,000 sqm, with more than 1,000 shops and food outlets. Phase 2 will consist of 25,000 sqm of space with 900 shops.
