BRG launches 5th Asia office in Thailand’s capital Bangkok
US consulting firm Berkeley Research Group (BRG) has launched a new office in Thailand, its 5th in Asia.
The new office in Thailand’s capital city will serve clients nationally and operate as regional hub for the four other Mekong countries, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam.
Mustafa Hadi, leader of BRG’s Asia Pacific business unit, said that the expansion into Thailand comes in response to growing demand from clients, in particular in areas such as business forensics, corporate investigations, disputes analysis, and cyber.
“The addition of a dedicated office in Bangkok greatly bolsters BRG’s longstanding offering in Asia Pacific and underlines our commitment to this important region,” he said.
“The Bangkok office follows BRG’s launch in Brussels and Paris last year and we expect to share news of further expansion outside of the US very soon as we continue to ensure depth and breadth in key locations,” said Tri MacDonald, Principal Executive Officer and President at BRG. “This new office marks the next chapter in the growth of our global footprint to serve both multinational and local clients.”
The new hub will initially focus on forensic investigations, with a team of senior professionals hired (most have a Big Four background) to kickstart the expansion, led by Vorapong Sutanont, appointed Managing Director at BRG.
“In Asia Pacific, BRG’s Economics, Disputes & Investigations practice has expanded considerably to meet increasing client demand,” said Sutanont. “It’s critical for the corporate health of the region to improve corporate governance and crack down on corruption and misconduct. Forensic investigation needs to be at the heart of this effort, and I’m particularly excited to build a leading forensic investigations practice in Thailand and the wider region.”
Sutanont most recently was a partner at Deloitte, and before that served PwC for over sixteen years. He has more than 24 years of experience in the US and across ASEAN advising on corporate investigations, cybercrime investigations, disputes analysis, fraud risk management, enterprise risk and governance, and process optimisation. He also served as chief risk officer for Thai conglomerate Charoen Pokphand Group.
“Vorapong and his team’s knowledge and expertise will help us expand our capabilities in Southeast Asia to match increasing demand from clients for a wider range of services as well as connecting BRG experts across other parts of the firm with their excellent local network and deep regional knowledge base,” said Hadi.
