Bangkok’s Orange Line 98% complete, Yellow Line monorail 97.3% complete, Pink Line monorail 92.9% complete

THE Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) reports that construction of the eastern section of the Orange Line metro in Bangkok is now 98.3% complete.

The eastern section runs for 22.57km from Thailand Cultural Centre to Min Buri. It has 10 underground stations between Thailand Cultural Centre and Khlong Ban Ma, and seven elevated stations on the section from Sammakorn to Yaek Rom Klao.

MRTA reports that work on the underground stations has now been completed, ready for final inspections to be undertaken. The elevated stations on the eastern section of the Orange Line are 90.9% complete.

Elsewhere, construction of the Yellow Line monorail is 97.3% complete, according to MRTA. The Yellow Line is 30.4km long with 23 stations, running from Lat Phrao in Bangkok to Samrong in Samut Prakan.

Work on a second monorail project, the Pink Line, is 92.9% complete. This route runs for 34.5km and serves 30 stations between Khae Rai in Nonthaburi province and the Min Buri district in eastern Bangkok.

MRTA is planning to conduct trial operations on the Yellow and Pink lines next month, with passengers travelling free of charge if they register in advance. This is expected to be followed by partial commercial operation from February 2023.

The extension of the Pink Line from Si Rat to the Muang Thong Thani development is 6.5% complete, MRTA reports.

Work on the southern extension of the Purple Line elevated metro from Tao Poon in Bang Sue district to the Rat Burana district in south Bangkok is 3.7% complete.
