Bangkok’s New Klong Chong Nonsi canal park to Open on 25 December 2021
Bangkok governor Aswin Kwanmuang followed up the construction of the Klong Chong Nonsi canal park and assured that it would open on Dec 25.
He inspected the work on the second section of the canal park from Sathon Road to Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra 7 Road. The section stretches on a distance of 200 meters and will comprise an activity field, a skywalk and an area connecting to Bangkok’s Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system.
The construction of the second section was 50% completed and the canal park could open on Dec 25, the governor said.
The flow of the Klong Chong Nonsi canal would improve and the quality of its water would be better because the canal park project included the dredging of the canal and the installation of sewers four meters underground to receive wastewater from local communities, Mr. Aswin said.
After the canal park project is completed, water from the canal will be treated at the Chong Nonsi wastewater treatment facility and the treated water will be directed to the Lumpini Park and used to replace polluted water in the Klong Phai Singto canal, the governor said.
The Klong Chong Nonsi canal park would increase green areas in Bangkok, expand public pavements and improve the water quality of the canal that would then accommodate people’s relaxation, exercises and activities, he said. (TNA)
