Bangkok Podcast, THE best podcast about Bangkok (and Thailand)
During my regular trips to the gym, or when out walking around my mooban in the evenings, I prefer to listen to people talking English rather than listening to music, I find concentrating on what’s being discussed helps the time pass quickly, so i love a good podcast.
I think it was during Covid lockdown that I discovered the Bangkok Podcast, and since discovery I reckon I have listened to all of their podcasts, all 553 no. episodes (as of the end of January 2026).
To quote from their websites https://www.bangkokpodcast.com/about/ page:
The Bangkok Podcast began in 2010 with Greg Jorgensen and Tony Joh at the helm. When Tony decided to move to Japan and Greg got busy planning his wedding, the two decided to call it a day and wrapped things up in 2013, after 77 episodes.
In October 2016, the show returned with one of the original hosts (that’d be Greg) and a new co-host (that’d be Ed) to take another look at all of the weird, wonderful, awful, interesting, and mystifying aspects of expat life in Bangkok.
I find that it’s very rare that there’s a topic discussed that isn’t of interest to me.
I particularly enjoy the episodes when the guest is Phra Pandit, a British monk who was ordained in 1999 (i believe he is a monk at the Big Buddha wat at Paknam Temple (Phra Buddha Dhammakaya Thep Mongkol)), who is a lovely witty and down-to-earth character . As an example, try https://www.bangkokpodcast.com/bangkok-podcast-30-phra-pandit/ )
Topics are diverse, and as a taster, here’s 10 of the most recent shows:
