A consortium of Team Group, Thailand, and Egis, France, has been appointed project consultant for the Baht 53.5bn ($US 1.7bn) Bangkok Pink Line monorail public-private partnership (PPP) project.
During the three-year contract, Egis will be responsible for design review, manufacturing supervision, installation and testing of all the systems, track, switches, and rolling stock, until the start of revenue service.
Bombardier is supplying 42 Innovia Monorail 300 trains for the 34.5km Pink Line will run from Khae Rai to Min Buri. The 80km/h four-car trains will be equipped with Bombardier’s Cityflo 650 automatic train control system. (Bombardier is also supplying another 30 monorail trains for the Yellow Line.)
Bangkok’s Mass Rapid Transit Authority (MRTA) awarded the PPP contract to the BSR joint venture comprising BTS Group, Sino-Thai Engineering and Construction, and Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding. Egis says the Pink Line monorail is Thailand’s first PPP project to include the civil works, systems and rolling stock, and operation and maintenance.
