Sweden-based consultancy Afry AB (STO:AFRY) said on Wednesday that it has been awarded a contract to provide owner’s engineering services for a 48-MW onshore wind farm project in Vietnam.

The firm was hired by the owner of the Huong Hoa 1 project — LIG-Huong Hoa 1 Joint Stock Company. This entity is owned by B.Grimm Renewable Power, a wholly-owned unit of Thai conglomerate B.Grimm Power PCL (BKK:BGRIM), and Vietnamese investor Truong Thanh Energy and Real Estate JSC. B.Grimm is the majority shareholder of the business.

The Huong Hoa 1 wind farm will be located in the Quang Tri province. The project will involve the installation of eight wind turbines of 6 MW each, a new 220-kV substation and a 5-km (3.1 miles) overhead transmission line.

Afry’s role will include support in project management, design review, and monitoring of construction and commissioning of the wind farm.

The Swedish-Finnish consultant said it had provided owner’s engineering services for the construction of over 10,000 MW of thermal, hydro, wind and solar power plants in Vietnam, which is some 15% of the installed capacity in the country.
