The cabinet approved a 6.8 billion baht increase in the budget to build the 196-kilometer-long motorway from Ayutthaya’s Bang Pa-in District to Nakhon Ratchasima (M6), said Deputy Government Spokesperson Karom Phonphonklang.

The new total budget is 66.2 billion baht, which is still below the budget ceiling of 69.9 billion baht, he added.

The project is divided into 40 parts, and construction began in 2016.

So far, 28 parts have been completed.

The construction of the remaining parts was delayed by issues related to the geology of the areas, requiring new designs for those sections.

The entire motorway was expected to be completed by 2025
