201-day extension approved for Contract 4-7 of the Thai-Chinese high-speed rail project (Bangkok–Nong Khai), Phase 1 (Bangkok–Nakhon Ratchasima)

The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) board has approved a 201-day extension for Contract 4-7 of the Thai-Chinese high-speed rail project (Bangkok–Nong Khai), Phase 1 (Bangkok–Nakhon Ratchasima), covering the Saraburi–Kaeng Khoi section.

The contract will now end on December 25, 2025, instead of June 7.

SRT Governor Veeris Ammarapala said the extension is due to delays in securing land use permission from the Royal Irrigation Department.

All land has now been handed over, and work will proceed under the new timeline.

The contractor is not entitled to extra compensation, and no additional costs will be incurred by project consultants.

The 8.56-billion-baht contract spans 12.99 km and includes Saraburi high-speed rail station, a depot, power system buildings, roads, and related infrastructure.

Construction began on February 19, 2021.

The board also approved a proposal to seek Cabinet approval for six new overpasses in Nakhon Ratchasima worth 797.29 million baht, to prevent disruption to rail systems and ensure public safety.

The work, originally part of a double-track railway project, will now be handled under the high-speed rail project with construction planned from 2025 to 2028.
