Vietnam Town Nakhon Phanom inaugurated in Thailand
The welcome gate of Vietnam Town Nakhon Phanom was unveiled at a ceremony held in Nakhon Phanom province, northern Thailand, on October 10, attracting the participation of around 1,000 overseas Vietnamese.
In her speech, Phanom Ranida Laungthitisakul, acting governor of Nakhon Phanom province, noted that the inauguration marked the friendly relations that exist between Thailand and Vietnam, and that the site is expected to attract more tourists to the locality, heling to boost economic development.
Work on the project initially began on December 11, 2023, with the local government contributing THB490,000 and Vietnamese expatriates THB1.3 million to the construction.
In December 2023, the Vietnam Town in Thailand’s northeastern Udon Thani province, the first in Thailand and the world, was inaugurated, acting as a bridge to further promote the ties between the two countries.
The Vietnam Town is located in the Vietnamese market area in the city downtown, with 99% of residents being of Vietnamese origin. Along with the support of the local administration and Vietnamese in Thailand, the project has received sponsorship from a number of domestic Vietnamese firms.
