EGAT to open bid for Srinagarind Dam hydro-floating solar project on 14 August

The project is expected to be operational within 2026.

The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) opened the selling of bidding documents for the development of a 140-megawatt (MW) unit 1 hydro-floating solar hybrid project in the Srinagarind Dam, with the bidding targeted to start on 14 August.

In, a statement, EGAT said the power generated from the combined solar and hydro facilities in Kanchanaburi Province will ensure the stability and reduce fluctuations of renewable energy, adding that this will support the country’s goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and net zero emissions by 2065.

The deadline for the purchase of the bidding documents will end on 3 July.

This is EGAT’s third hybrid hydro-floating solar, following the 45 MW project at Sirindhorm Dam in Ubon Ratchathani Province and the 24 MW hybrid facility at Ubol Ratana Dam in Khon Kaen Province.

EGAT aims to expand the project at its nine dams with a total capacity of 2,725 MW.
