Egat approved to buy power from 11 garbage plants in nine provinces

The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has given a green light for the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (Egat) to buy electricity from 11 community garbage-fuelled power plants in nine provinces, the secretary general of the ERC said on Wednesday.
Naruepat Amornkosit said the 11 plants would supply 68.9 megawatts to the grid although they have a combined capacity of 83 megawatts.
The plants are run by municipal administrations under an agreement between the ERC and the Interior Ministry, she said.
The power from the 11 plants would be ready for commercial use within the end of the year, Naruepat said.
